Zimbabwean farmer David Mwanaka has gone from trying to grow white maize in his landlord’s back yard in Tilbury to farming more than 60 acres in Enfield and Salisbury. White maize looks similar to sweetcorn but is less sweet. The maize needs a balance of high temperatures and good rainfall and as it deteriorates very quickly, needs to be eaten on the same day that it is picked.
